PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE / LISBOA, PORTUGAL

A metaphor of energy flow has been used, inspired by the gas pipelines system and by the cars backlights streaking on the highway; it transforms natural flux into the constructional movement of a highly coordinated and connected yet free-style system. This metaphoric language indicates the main connection with the Galp Energia, therefore proceeding visually as the identity extension of the existing headquarters building complex. Bridge "pumps" the energy in a sense of global spatial movement, it is group of spatial lines researching its traces in space and bringing the final form to life. The movement was caught. Line is a symbol, a metaphor of the natural dynamism. This design has an allegory of flight, change, speed, it imitates the natural dynamism and abstracts all the movements over the highway into the main gesture. Finally, orange colour has been used for the main construction as a direct implication of visual identity already created by the Galp's logo. the goal is also to avoid the strict form – instead, creating a multiform in visualisation of the object itself. therefore comes the change of intensity, the rhythm of alternations and deviations. it is a linear morphology of space. the geometrical complexity is transposed on spectator's consciousness and he is forced to analyze, refold and combine the elements of the object, to seek contours and silhouettes, therefore bridge is becoming a mere accumulation which makes it look immaterial. For the structure, by distorting and binding tubes into the same constructional system, it has been reached much higher global load and all the elements started to work as one complex organism. The assemblage is a light but solid system; its structure is something that has already been achieved by plants.
